Senator David Argall was elected to represent the 29th Senatorial District (including all of Schuylkill County and parts of Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton Counties) in the Pennsylvania State Senate in March 2009. 

Senator Argall’s top legislative priorities are promoting economic growth, reducing the property tax burden on homeowners and revitalizing our downtowns and industrial areas. He serves as Vice-Chairman of the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee, and he is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Education Committee, Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee and Labor and Industry Committee. He is also a member of the Joint Legislative Air and Water Pollution Control and Conservation Committee.  

Before his election to the Senate, Senator Argall served 24 years as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He was a member of the House leadership, serving terms as Whip, Appropriations Committee Chairman and Caucus Chairman. 

As a member of the House, Senator Argall was instrumental in the creation of the Main Street downtown revitalization program and the Elm Street neighborhood investment program. Senator Argall has been a leading advocate for property tax reform, introducing legislation that would give voters a stronger voice in the property tax debate. 

Senator Argall has also played a vital role in conservation and environmental protection initiatives across the state. He helped earn legislative approval of the Growing Greener program and he authored the Waste Tire Recycling Act which has helped to clean up more than 28 million tires from waste piles across the state. 

Senator Argall earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and international studies from Lycoming College and a master’s degree in American Studies at Penn State’s Harrisburg campus. In 2006, Senator Argall earned his Ph.D. in public administration from Penn State.  His doctoral dissertation reviewed the benefits and drawbacks of Pennsylvania’s tax-free “Keystone Opportunity Zones” for economic development. 

Senator Argall lives in Rush Township with his wife, Beth, and their children, A.J. and Elise.
